As the seasons change, it’s natural for our mindsets to change as well. At Image Intelligence, we want to make sure that no matter what it looks like outside, you have the ability to feel your best. If you feel your best, you’ll be prepared to start the day and pursue your goals. Here are our favorite methods to change up our morning routines to unlock a sense of inner peace.
A quick meditation session each morning will help you re-center yourself and begin the day from a good place. We love using the Calm app (available for free on the App Store and Google Play), created by Tamara Levitt. Every morning, you’ll find a new, original Daily Calm 10-minute program to ease you into your day.
The benefits of exercise are well-documented (CDC, Self magazine), but they’re worth repeating. Physical activity creates endorphins, can act as an antidepressant, and clears your head. Combined with a hot shower right after, you’ll be energized to face whatever comes your way.
How you organize your closet is up to you: by color, silhouette, brand, or material… What matters is that once you create a system in your closet, you’ll know where everything is and can access it easily. If the day is unexpectedly chilly, you’ll know exactly where to pull a cardigan or jacket from. You’ll not only save time, but also clear your mind of clothes hunting-related stress.
4. Choose your outfits for the week in advance
On Sunday, take a look at your calendar for the week: what events do you have, who are they with, and what do you hope to accomplish in them? Keep that outline in your head as you look through your closet. Lay out potential outfits with accessories for each day until you’re satisfied with the visual message each one sends. Now, you’ll no longer need to second guess your outfits every morning. When you get dressed, you’ll know you put thought and care into your choices. You can use those extra ten minutes to fix your favorite breakfast or get a head start on work!
5. Treat yourself
This can mean one of two things. Do something every morning that makes you happy, whether it’s reading a chapter of your favorite book or spending five minutes of quality time with your dog. Or, buy yourself a little something that won’t break the bank such as a new lipstick (we’ve been using the ILIA Multi-Stick, $34) or nail polish (we’re fans of Wild & Free, $8 by Olive & June) that makes you happy right now. Whenever you use that lipstick or see your new nail color in the morning, you’ll be reminded of that little pocket of contentment. Boosting your mood from the beginning of the day will help you feel more confident and relaxed––and eager to find this new sense of inner peace again the next morning!
